Adventures In Wee Couch Making. For sale.

This cozy handmade couch fits cats, small dogs, and most other small animals.

I decided to try my hand at making a pet couch. Originally I started to crochet one of the patterns you see online for kitty couches. It was going to take a lot of crocheting and time so I decided to go in a totally different direction… actually building a small couch. Next thing you know I’m learning as I go and working with wood, foam, and actual upholstery fabric. Personally I find sewing a cover for the couch and fitting it on is way harder than doing the crochet method. It was definitely a learning experience and I’m glad I did it. After all, it turned out so cute!

Despite myself liking the couch, and Kara testing the comfort and finding it acceptable, I really don’t have the space in my wee apartment for it. So I’ve decided to sell it so another family can enjoy it. All the details can be found under the picture slideshow.

Price: $100 CAD

Pickup only. Beechwood Village area in Ottawa, ON.

For more info or to purchase feel free to contact me via this page, Facebook, or Instagram.

Features

  • The couch is made up of two pieces; the foam seat, and the wooden base
  • The two pieces come apart so you can use the top as a bed by itself, for cleaning, and to remove the legs should you choose too.
  • The cushion seat and base are held together with velcro that is string enough to hold everything in place securely, yet is easy for you to separate.
  • The base consists of chipboard covered in thick corduroy fabric with velcro attached, wooden legs screwed into place, and a strip of upholstery fabric attached as a couch skirt.
  • The top piece is made of 2-inch thick upholstery fabric. There are no solid supports in the top piece so your pet can get as comfy as they like.
  • Great for pets that tend to sprawl or curl but still like the option of having a squishy couch arm to support their head & neck.
  • Comes with four matching pillows; two larger ones done in the same fabric as the couch, one smaller in pink upholstery fabric, and another smaller one in green cotton. Each pillow is stuffed with polyester stuffing.
  • The couch will stand up to the daily wear and tear by your pet.
  • Cannot be put in washer & dryer. Seat & base can be hand washed or spot cleaned.

Cat Furniture For Sale

Price: $100CAD

Delivery: Pickup Only

It’s very rare that I take on a large piece like this hexagonal end table I decided to turn into an end table, cat bed & cat scratcher in one. I’ve been wanting to try one for quite some time and the Zoo already have enough stuff so I decided to sell it.

The table itself stands at 53cm tall and each side is 31cm wide with a diagonal cross width of 60cm roughly. I removed the doors and capped off the ends with new carpet. The remaining four sides have been covered with sisal rope on the top and bottom, and the same carpet in the middle. This way your feline companion can choose which they prefer to scratch on any given day. 😉

Two of the four sides contain cutout windows which can be seen and reached through as Kara is demonstrating in the above progress picture. The windows come with curtains on a rod that can be opened or closed as your kitty likes. The rod is removable and the curtains changeable.

The bed on the inside has two sides, one of which matches the curtains. The top side is a kitty face print sweatshirt material and the bottom is plain cotton. The bed has been stuffed to the seams with polyfill so is super plushie. It will flatten down and out a bit as your kitty uses it and gets it just how they like. It can be thrown in the washer and dryer no problem for easy cleaning.

The table has been given a fresh new paint job along with the upgrades.

I should really be selling this for around $140CAD but I don’t have the space to store it really and if I bring it inside for too long the Zoo will claim it. So I’m letting it go for $100CAD.

This will be my last big cat furniture for sale for awhile. My next big project like it is cat shelves for the Zoo! And winter is coming so I’ll be back to working inside.

A Long Overdue Update & Cute Kitten Pics!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any kind of updates. For the past few years I really wasn’t super active with my shop due to personal reasons. Now I’m back and busier than ever! Many a kitty and puppy have been receiving gifts since their humans have been home under quarantine. 😉

This site is very out of date and I will be updating it over the next while and adding the new toys, masks, etc I’ve had available on my social media. It’ll take awhile and you’ll see some changes.

Okay, now onto why you’re really reading this…

Cute Kitten Pics!!!

Last night on Facebook I promised I’d share a series of pics I received this week of a kitten named Leroy playing with a bunch of toys his daddy got from me. He likes them all but his dad says the Zombie Head is his favourite. He plays soccer with it daily. 🙂

Please Note: Zombie Heads have not yet been posted online but are available upon request. They have a bell in the missing eye and were a big hit at last years ComicCon Holiday Edition. Word of mouth is how Leroy ended up with one.

Okay now here’s Leroy!

ComicCon Thanks and Catmas Fair

This past weekend DRC was at the Ottawa ComicCon Holiday Edition as a vendor. Thank you too everyone who stopped by the booth! There are going to be plenty of happy fuzzbutts and people this holiday season. If anyone would like to share pictures with me of their happy pawstomers feel free to email them to me at del.roba.creations@gmail.com

Next up for DRC is the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue 3rd Annual Catmas Craft Fair. There will be plenty of awesome local vendors there and all the money raised goes towards helping kitties!

Abbie’s New Winter Hat

I received some pictures today of a happy pawstomer modelling her new winter hat. Her mom saw one of the dino hats I make and asked if I could make something like it for Abbie to keep her little ears warm in the winter. Overall I like it and thinks she looks adorable in it.

Open Again

After a month+ hiatus we’re open for business again! I won’t be taking on too many new projects for a bit yet but am more than happy to make the standard stuff I’ve always made and take a few custom orders. On top of moving, I just started school again at the beginning of July for the first time in years so a lot of my time and energy is going towards that. Thanks understanding, and I’ll definitely be taking my usual halloween requests. The fuzzbutts nee their costume! =)

Happy New Year From DRC

Happy New Year from the gang at the DRC Workshop!

For this coming year I already have new toy designs in the works for both cats and dogs, but the really exciting thing I have planned are pet clothes. I’ve decided to try making different types of pet clothes and if they work out I’ll make them available. I made Emma a pair of pajamas for Christmas and she LOVES them. So far I’m happy with them and she looks super cute in them.

I am going to do a few more pairs for her and then try another size. I should probably have them up for sale by the end of January , if not before.

Santa Paws Helping Stray Cats

Santa Paws Caturday

Santa Paws is now done his yearly visit to the good dogs and cats of the world, and things are slowing down some here at the DRC Workshop. This season the Santa Paws for a Good Cause promotion was rather popular. All together we raised $55 CAD for the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue!

It went over well enough that I’ve decided to make the Santa Paws stockings a permanently available item on my Etsy Shop. So now we can help stray cats all year long!

Stray Cat Caturday at DRC
