This past weekend DRC was at the Ottawa ComicCon Holiday Edition as a vendor. Thank you too everyone who stopped by the booth! There are going to be plenty of happy fuzzbutts and people this holiday season. If anyone would like to share pictures with me of their happy pawstomers feel free to email them to me at del.roba.creations@gmail.com
Next up for DRC is the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue 3rd Annual Catmas Craft Fair. There will be plenty of awesome local vendors there and all the money raised goes towards helping kitties!
Starting tomorrow I’ll be running a new monthly adoption event for the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue at Pet Valu Trainyards in Ottawa. It’s on the third Saturday of every month from 10am -2pm. For a small donation to the rescue you can come have a bit of breakfast and check out adoptable cats. There will be coffee freshly brewed throughout the event, muffins I baked fresh that morning, and other goodies baked by awesome OSCatR volunteers!
So come join us some Saturday at Coffee with Cats!
Santa Paws is now done his yearly visit to the good dogs and cats of the world, and things are slowing down some here at the DRC Workshop. This season the Santa Paws for a Good Cause promotion was rather popular. All together we raised $55 CAD for the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue!
It went over well enough that I’ve decided to make the Santa Paws stockings a permanently available item on my Etsy Shop. So now we can help stray cats all year long!
Happy Caturday everyone from the Zoo at the DRC Workshop! Just wanted to share this picture of Tray helping me take pictures of the Santa Paws stockings.
From each stocking sold between now and December 24, 2017 $5 CAD will be donated to the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue.
Stockings may be purchased via Etsy. If you are in the Ottawa area and want to save on shipping by picking it up feel free to contact me via this website or my Facebook page.
Want to make the holidays a little less blue for a stray cat? Then consider one of the new Blue Santa Paws stockings we added to our Etsy shop today. Now there’s two blues as well as red and green!
All colors are still available for now. Though there is only one light blue left.
For each stocking sold between now and December 24, 2017, $5 CAD from each stocking will be donated to the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue.
For more information on the stockings and how to buy them check out my previous post here
This past weekend I attended Montreal Comic Con to speak at a couple of panels. It was a fun but tiring weekend, and the Zoo sure is happy I’m back home.
While there I did my panel from Ottawa Comic Con calledInside the Tickle Trunk: Mr Dressup. I had a small but enthusiastic crowd. Being an English show many francophone people didn’t know who Mr Dressup was so I wasn’t expecting the crowd to be as big as Ottawa. The crowd that was there loved it, and I made many people happy with my costume. Last minute I decided on making a Mr Dressup costume, and I ended up being very happy with it. Especially the puppets!
Now that Con season for Canada’s 150th is done this panel will most likely be retired, but the costume sure won’t!
This past weekend I attended Montreal Comic Con to speak at a couple of panels. It was a fun but tiring weekend, and the Zoo sure is happy I’m back home.
I did a new panel while there called Cosplay With Your Pet. Overall it went well. Had a decent crowd considering it was a Friday afternoon at 2pm. Basically we spent 45min looking at pics of animals in cute costumes. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
I’m hoping to do it again at Ottawa Comic Con 2018. I have a number of things I want to improve, plus I plan to build costumes for animals I know so I can talk about the process etc. So be prepared for cute costume pics of the Zoo (Kara, Bela, & Tray #robacats) and my Squad (Emma and Lily B #robasquad #wannaberobacat). I’ve also had a few different types of animals offer to be models/guinea pigs! It’s going to be a big year of miniature costuming!
Today was the day, and Team Emma was ready to hit the streets! It was a small crowd, but everyone had a great time. Emma got to hang with the big boys. Two big huskies to be exact.
This was the first year for the event so we’re hoping word will spread and get more dogs involved next year. This year over $1000 was raised for Dog Guides!
Due to Ottawa Race Weekend taking place we had to change the route for the walk, which ended up being a far more pleasant route. The last leg of our journey was along Beechwood Avenue where the race was taking place, so lot’s of cheering and music going on. So we decided to have a bit of fun with it. Even though this was a walk and not a race we cheered the dogs on as they made their way to the finish line. Due to her strategy of slow and steady wins the race (and some help from the husky parents) Emma was the first one to cross the finish line. Little stumpy legs beat the big boys! lol
Thanks to all Emma’s sponsors who helped her raise $131!
Thanks to Pet Valu Beechwood for putting on such a great event! Team Emma will be there again next year!
We set a goal of $200 and so far with in person and online donations we’ve made just over half that. Also, this morning we discovered someone STOLE some of her donation money from the jar in her house.
So any little donation would greatly help a wonderful organization.
***** I’ve been told that with online donations that it looks like you have to donate $25. You don’t. Look for the ‘other amount’ button.
