DRC @ Rideau High Craft Fair This Sunday

This Sunday, December 11, 2016 Rideau High School is hosting a craft fair to raise funds for the school’s concert band to attend the Music Festival in Montreal next year. As well as funds for their food cupboard.

Del Roba Creations will be in attendance at this event. On top of the usual stuff, I have some new stuff designed for Christmas and gift giving, and I’ll have holiday baking for sale. There will be cookies, and four different flavors of cookie dough truffles.

The sale was featured in the Ottawa Community News and got a pretty good writeup.

It’s free admission and parking so come on down and take a peek at numerous local artisans.

Tomorrow, July 23, starting at 11am the Canadian Dachshund Rescue Ontario will be hosting a wienerific event to help raise money for these lovable dogs.

Held at Carlington Park in the west end, this day has plenty of things to do. There are vendors and a bbq, as well as a costume parade, and wiener races. Yes, wiener races!  If you want to see some clips of the races last year check them out after the schedule.

Help Animals In Need Simply By Walking

I just had a great app shared with me called ResQWalk,  and I’ll be giving it a full test run later.

The whole idea is that the app uses the GPS on your phone to track how much you walk and your favorite rescue gets some money.  When you first sign in you can choose which rescue to walk for. If you want to walk for more than one you simply have to reset it to the new one. Many local rescues are already signed up so it shouldn’t be to hard to find your favorite, and the app allows you to follow as many rescues as you want. Obviously I’ll be walking for the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue, but I may from time to time walk for another.

You can download the app for either iOs or Android. It also helps you find local pet friendly areas such as parks, vets, lodging, etc. All in all a great resource for people with animal companions.

It’s that easy to help animal rescues get much needed funds. Every bit helps!

Big News From the DRC Workshop

As many of you know I’ve been mentioning some big things in store for Del Roba Creations. Today one of them got finalized. DRC will be at the Ottawa Pet Expo this year as a vendor!

Now I know some of you may be thinking “Why is this big news? It’s just another convention.”

Yes it is but, besides being the largest one I’ve done, the Pet Expo has added a new area this year that in my own small way I helped it come about. The Pet Crafter Marketplace!

Ottawa Lumiere Festival & Lantern Workshops

The Lumière Festival, presented each year by the New Edinburgh Community & Arts Centre, is the hidden gem of Ottawa festivals. It is held every year within the month of August culminating in the Lumière Evening of Light Celebration, which this year is  on August 15th.  Stanley Park is turned into a magical place full of light  and fairies. I personally have been helping out for numerous years building lanterns and will be helping out at a number of the workshops this year.

“The Lumière Evening of Light Celebration will enthral you whether on your own, with friends or with family; a teen or a senior. From the lanterns on display, to the labyrinth, to the performers and music – all illuminated by only lantern and lamplight, Lumière will hold you in its spell. Come re-discover the night and the magic of light!”
